Send a stack to help test Nocturne
A stacked master from your own nights tests Nocturne on data it has not seen. If you give a name, Nocturne credits you as a Photon Donor.
What helps most
Nocturne is tuned on Seestar S30 Pro captures. Stacks that differ from those are the most useful:
- other telescopes and cameras, including the Seestar S50;
- captures on an equatorial mount or a wedge;
- deep stacks of 250 frames or more;
- files that Nocturne handled badly.
A typical night is welcome too.
Send your file
Choose the file first. The page reads its header on your computer and fills in what it can. Nothing is sent until you press the button.
What happens to your file
- The observing site is removed from the file’s header. The page blanks the standard header entries for the observing site, such as its latitude, longitude and height, and the observer’s name. A Seestar also writes its serial number into the telescope entry, and the page blanks that entry too. If your browser cannot run the page, the server removes them when the file arrives. The image itself is not changed.
- The server checks again when the file arrives, and blanks any such entry that is left.
- The capture date and the target's position in the sky stay in the file.
- The file is used only to test and improve Nocturne. It is never shared, sold or published, and it never becomes sample data.
- The file is deleted automatically after four weeks, together with the IP address of the upload and your email. Until then the email is used only to ask you about the file.
- After that, only the name you gave for the credit and the details of the capture are kept: the target, the equipment, the frames and exposure read from the file, the reason and your note. The file’s name, type, size and upload date are kept too.
- The credit is the name you gave. Leave the name empty and there is no credit.
To have a file deleted sooner, ask through the support page. The privacy page has the details.
Limits
- One file at a time, up to 512 MB.
- FITS or TIFF only. JPEG, PNG and other formats are refused.
- A TIFF that carries GPS location data is refused. Export it again without location metadata.
- A TIFF is not read for equipment details, so those fields need typing.
